When DIY your own atomizer, some tools are necessary. But how do you choose these tools ? Let’s come to our topic today--how to choose and use your DIY tools
It’s the important part of the DIY atomizer core. So how do we choose the type of heating wire? What kind of heating wire is suitable for you? The first thing we need to know is whether your atomizer is for flavor or clouds, and what kind of wires can meet our own needs. Secondly, we need to know how many heating wires are used to wind and their resistance In the upper picture we can see several models of Kanthal A1 heating wire. They have different kinds of specifications, 0.25, 0.32, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6 and so on. What kind of heating wire is required? It depends on what type of atomizer you have. Different kinds of atomizers will be with different specifications heating wire.
For RTA, Let's start with the Five Pawns/KFLP atomizer which with good and rich taste and it is convenient and simple to DIY its heating wire. it is recommended to use 0.32 heating wire. The result is from a very large number of players after using a 0.25,0.32,0.4 heating wire. Here is the reference data: 0.32 heating wire, 2.5 diameter, 6-7 turns; 0.32 heating wire, 2.0 diameter, 7-8 turns.
Now we will talk about the keyfun4 atomizer. It is the most complicated atomizer in the Keyfun series, but its taste is very different from that of Five Pawns. The keyfun4 atomizer is with dual coil, which means that you can experience much more clouds and rich taste. Here are two kinds of heating wire recommended for your reference: 0.32 heating wire, 2.5 diameter, 6 turns, single or dual; 0.4 heating wire, 2.5 diameter, 6 turns, single or dual coil.
For RDA,Let’s take Kennedy atomizer for excample. The Kennedy electrode holder can accommodate multiple DIY atomizing cores. While trying such big clouds atomizer, it needs a larger resistance heating wire. The lower the resistance, the higher the power and the faster the heating. So a 0.5 heating wire or a 0.6 heating wire is suitable. The reference data: 0.5 heating wire, 3.0 diameter, 5 turns, dual coil; 0.6 heating wire, 3.0 diameter, 5 turns, dual coil. But there are some points that the novice need to know, RDA is NOT suitable for EVERYONE, do not use the mechanical rod without ENOUGH BASIC KNOWLEDGE. Assuming you don't know how much the resistance of your atomizer core,not sure whether there is a risk of short circuit and whether the battery is qualified,there will be some safety problem. Of course, if with enough understanding of DIY Ecig, you can try mechanical rods .
The winder generally has five to six sizes of wire rods, and the commonly used wire rods are 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0. For example, we will make a 0.32, 2.5, and 6 turns coil. Place a 2.5 wire rod in a wire winder first, then pass a piece of heating wire through the small hole of the device, and left a little heating wire. then press on the thread and place the threader on the rifle and turn it around. But don't overdo it, otherwise it will be very ugly. After 6 turns, do not hurry to loosen the thread and continue to rotate half a turn. Because the heating wire has elasticity, it will be half-circled and will not reduce the number of turns. Then take the thread winding off and Do REMEMBER to burn the coil! Using the coil jig will not hurt the hand, and it is easier to wind the coil of the high-profile heating wire.
There are two electrode screws on the electrode table. We need to press the coil under the electrode screws and fix it with a screwdriver. Different atomizers will need different screwdrivers. It may be a flat screw or a Phillips screw. The screwdriver can not only fix the coil, but also adjust the electrodes of some atomizers. Therefore, a screwdriver is essential. Some screwdrivers can also be used as wire rods.
4. Ceramic tweezer
Ceramic tweezer can not only adjust the heating wire when the heating wire burns red, but also can plug cotton in, which is very convenient.Do you need to burn them after winding the wires? The answer is yes. Put the heating wire on the workbench,and use a little power to burn the heating wire. Here are two ways for you to choose.
In the first case, the tightness of the wire we are winding is not bad, we will tighten the coil with a ceramic tweezers to keep it in a tight state. Burning the coil with low power,and release the ignition switch after 1.5-2 seconds,then release it when the temperature drops down. Repeat the previous step twice or so and the coil will be made successfully. During the heating process, if the coil starts to turn red from the middle and spreads to both ends, and there is no non-uniform black portion, the coil is made perfectly. If not, it is necessary to use a wire rod to insert the coil to adjust its position, and tighten the coil with ceramic tweezer, then keep watching the progress of the coil heating.
In the second case, if the heating wire we wound is not tight enough, What should I do? No need to rewind it,just use a ceramic tweezer to maintain it as a normalcoil state. Take out the windproof lighter (or spray gun) to burn the wire up and down for a few seconds. While the heating wire is almost fixed,then continue to adjust it with a ceramic tweezer.
5. Wire cutter
It is very convenient to use a wire cutter to cut the coil, and it is necessary when using a high resistance heating wire.
However, sometimes there is no need to use wire cutters,such as doing RBA atomization core, we can directly back and forth the wire, after doing this several times, it will fall off automatically. But remember, you must make sure whether the electrode screw is loose. If so, you need a screwdriver to fix it. Otherwise,the heating wire will be blown.
Nowadays, the brands of cotton are endless, and all kinds of cotton have various characteristics. Therefore, make sure whether the used atomizer is for taste or big clouds first , then choose the cotton you need .
Scissors is also very important, and a sharp one is needed to cut cotton without dragging , so if you want to advanced DIY skills, it is better to find a sharp scissors. The most recommended material is 316 stainless steel which is very sharp and used offten in most hospitals.
8.Stainless steel tweezers
Some people may say, ceramic tweezers are enough, why do i need stainless steel tweezers? In fact, while in use, there are some gaps between the tanks and the chimneys of atomizers, and it is not possible to place cotton very well with the ceramic tweezers. Therefore, it is very necessary to have a stainless steel tweezers with a pointed or elbow. Moreover, stainless steel tweezers play a very large role in adjusting the position of the cotton.
9.Needle- nose pliers
The use of pliers is limited to making high resistance heating wires. When installing the high resistance coil by hands directly,it will cause damage to your finger. If pulling the coil closer to the pole with pliers, it becomes easier.
The ohmmeter has always been an essential artifact for mechanical players. If you don't have a ohm meter and you don't use a pressure regulator, you will not know what the resistance will be and whether there is a certain risk. However, nowadays, most people has a pressure regulator, and some people will use ohmmeter as a worktable.
Basically, the tools needed for DIY are all here. You can choose to buy them all, or just choose to purchase the items you need. In fact, it doesn't need to be so trouble. Now many shops have a DIY tool kit such as Coil Master DIY kit which has complete tools and is very convenient to use.
